Review of Blue Springs, Missouri

It All Depends On What Is The Most Important To Yo
Star Rating - 6/13/2007
Blue Springs is a great place to raise a family. The schools are full of devoted, enthusiastic teachers and families that are involved in school and sporting activities. The excellent schools are a big draw for many families. With no scientific data to back this up, there seems to be a larger than common amount of families that have at least one parent home during the day.

The city is clean and making slow attempts at keeping up with neighboring communities but has really has to step up in development. The main strip of 7 Highway is in danger of becoming a repeating pattern of used car lots, fast food restaurants and fake nail salons. If you want to eat dinner off a plate with silverware instead of unwrapping it, your choices are limited. That said you are no more than a ten-minute drive to lots of convenient shopping and dining.

Houses are reasonably priced and have good-sized yards. Most areas have seen decent appreciation on a regular basis. You get a lot of house for your money in Blue Springs.

There is a reasonable 30 – 40 minute commute to downtown Kansas City during the heaviest traffic conditions. There is absolutely no mass transit within the city, if you don’t drive; Blue Springs is not the place for you. There are no local cabs and if there is a sidewalk in your subdivision, it is usually only on one side of the street. There is a daily early morning and late afternoon commuter bus from downtown KC, but it has no other stops than downtown and Crown Center. The Kansas City metro area is connected with an easy to navigate highway and interstate system. No matter where you are starting from, it would be hard to drive more than an hour to get where you need to go. This seems like a long time in the Midwest, but a walk in the park to people from larger more congested areas.

Overall, Blue Springs is a nice place to live quietly and well.
